Substitute Alaea Salt for any salt called for in your recipes. It will add a depth of flavor to your food. For recipes that call for fine salt, just grind some in a mortar and pestle. You won't need a lot to flavor your foods!
Premium Black Lava Hawaiian Salt is not meant to flavor large pots of boiling water but is for finishing foods at the last minute so you can get the independent texture of the salt as well as some of its unique mineral characteristics. It makes for a dramatic food presentation!
Hot and Spicy Blend
Talk about waking up flavors! This is one of the best tasting blends we have created. Great for barbecue pork and beef ribs, chicken, steak, and hamburgers. The spiciness of this blend will stimulate the senses. It's also perfect for making seared tuna.
To use as a dry rub: Sprinkle on meat, coating all sides. Cover and leave in refrigerator for at least 4 hours or, better yet, overnight. Barbecue, grill or pan fry.
To use as a marinade: Mix 1 teaspoon of blend, 2 tablespoons lemon or lime juice or a splash of balsamic vinegar, and 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil in a bowl. Add your choice of meat (about 1 pound). Coat meat well. Cover and place in refrigerator overnight or at least 4 hours. Barbecue or grill meat.
Herbes de Provence Blend
Add a pinch to your omelette, fritata or scrambled eggs for a more sophisticated flavor. It also tastes great on chicken, fish and steak. Even a cheaper cut of meat will taste great with this blend of French perfection!
To use as a marinade: Mix Herbes de Provence blend and extra virgin olive oil in a bowl. Mix well. Toss meat of choice in mixture and marinate for at least 4 hours or overnight. Barbecue, grill or pan fry.
Simply classic. Use our Italian Blend to season your favorite sauces and marinara recipes. Also delicious on chicken, steak, fish, meatloaf and hamburgers.
Dipping sauce recipe: Mix 1 teaspoon Italian blend, 1tablespoon fresh chopped parsley and 1 teaspoon finely chopped garlic. Stir in 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil. Use as dipping sauce for bread or brush bread with mixture and toast or grill.
Herb butter: Mix 1 teaspoon Italian blend, 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley, 1 teaspoon finely chopped garlic and 1/4 stick softened butter. Brush bread with mixture. Toast or grill bread.
To use as a marinade: Mix Italian blend and extra virgin olive oil in a bowl. Mix well. Toss meat of choice in mixture and marinate for at least 4 hours or overnight. Barbecue, grill or pan fry.
2 ~ 3 servings 2 tablespoons Olive Oil 2~3 teaspoons Garlic Pepper Arrabiata Blend 1 can crushed Tomatoes (No-Salt) 8 ounces Penne Pasta 1/8 cup Parmesan Cheese
In a skillet, saute Garlic Pepper Arrabiata Blend in olive oil until lightly browned. Add crushed tomatoes. Simmer for approximately 20 minutes on low. Cook pasta according to package directions. When both arrabiata sauce and pasta are done, toss together. Toss in cheese while sauce is hot.
Game Day Fries with the Works
Cut potatoes into thick wedges or slices, wash in ice cold water and pat dry. Sprinkle with generous amount of olive oil coating all potato slices. Bake for about 30 minutes in 400 degree F oven. Check to make sure it's done.
Once potatoes are done, take out of the oven then sprinkle with Garlic Pepper Arrabiata Blend (or substitute with Italian or Herbes de Provence Blend), mix well making sure you coat all potato slices. Bakeagain for about 3~5 minutes. Place potatoes in oven-proof serving platter then sprinkle with whole or chopped olives, sliced red and/or yellow bell pepper, crispy bacon or chopped cooked spicy sausages (optional). Top with your favorite cheese (ex:cheddar, swiss, jack) and broil for a few minutes just until cheese is melted.
Serve and enjoy! It's a great dish for game day.
